Diablo III installers updated (AMD users who had problems are concerned)!

Thursday 31 May 2012 at 20:56

Hi everybody!

We have made two small update to Diablo III installers
  • Problem that made the system freeze on ATI card after login should be fixed!
  • Installer support DVD-ROM version
If you don't want to reinstall Diablo III to fix the problem, please set wine 1.5.5-DiabloIII_v2 to Diablo III's virtual drive

Ubuntu 12.04 users who are not able to connect (error 3007) still have to run the following command before playing

Terminal output:

echo 0|sudo tee /proc/sys/kernel/yama/ptrace_scope

Lag problems should be fixed soon

Don't hesitate to send feedbacks

Good day!

I'm new to this, so please bear with me

When I click on the "Install Diablo III" link, it opens PlayOnLinux, but nothing happens from there. It just shows the list of my installed programs. Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong?

My monitor goes to sleep (out of range) when launching the game, Radeon 5770.
A way around it is to edit home/diablo 3/D3Prefs.txt

Edit this line: DisplayModeWindowMode "0" to "1"

So windowed mode works, but as soon as I go to fullscreen the monitor goes to sleep even though the resolution is correct in the game. Why?

Also freezing for me at login. Set wine to the correct version, the game worked once, however has been freezing since.

I've having the same issue. I was playing fine on Friday (when I got it), and since then I can't play without it freezing. Sometimes it will freeze while trying to connect to the server, sometimes I can get into a game but it will freeze within 60 seconds.

The game pegs the CPU at 100% and locks up the X server. It looks like it's overflowing the X event buffer. I can still SSH into the machine and kill the process.

Confirmed, got passed the login screen by running: setarch i386 -3 playonlinux, but
it freezes while playing and that's under 1 minute. All i can do is reboot, nothing else responds.

For me it was working fine before Blizzard patched the client to 1.0.2. Since then it freezes in game while playing, as mentioned above.
Before i was using the previous playonlinux version with Diablo3 running on wine 1.5.4, but since the patch was applied, it freezes with both wine 1.5.4 and wine1.5.5-DiabloIII_v2.
Any idea how to fix this? Thank you.

The same problem like @checo:
"Still freez since las patch, Did the upgrade of playonlinux, installed wine1.5 diablov2 and v3 tested both, reinstaled diablo3 and nothing, still freez, sometimes at loggin screen, sometimes at retreaving character list."
And every time i need to use "echo 0|sudo tee /proc/sys/kernel/yama/ptrace_scope".

Since most of problems are related to system or graphic card here are mine:

Ubuntu 12.04 x64
AMD/ATI HD 6850

Ok finaly did it.
Upgrade my ati drivers to the 8.9 ver, launched 04/2012
upgrade wine to 1.5.6

echo 0|sudo tee /proc/sys/kernel/yama/ptrace_scope
in a console and lauch diablo 3 with this:
setarch i386 -3 -L -B -R wine Diablo\ III.exe -launch -opengl

and now it works!. I got one freeze from 10 but is a diferent freeze, I dont lose control of my pc like before, I can ctr alt f1 to get back my pc and no need to remotly ssh to kill it.

Sorry to say I'm not using playonlinux, im using wine directly cause I don't know how to modify playonlinux Diablo 3 shortcut.
What I was reading is some kind of problems in 64 arch memory or video memory. Found this command in Blizzards diablo 3 forum, topic linux ubuntu 12/04 install.
