I managed to fix. I downloaded steam on a windows computer and updated. I took pen drive and transfer the folder from steam for mac, replacing the steam folder that was in the folder playonmac. And it worked. hope that helps.

Issue still not fixed on Mac and copying
Found this workaround reported by other users: - Select Steam in PlayOnMac and instead of Run click Debug - Let it start (slower with many debug messages), it downloads update - When it shows Extracting package click Cancel - If it fails to start just close PlayOnMac Cmd+Q and retry

Yes, I did the same thing except the folder was 5GB so I transferred over wifi. Running Steam under debug mode in playonmac shows you where in the library your copy of Steam is.

Ok guys, I've found a way to fix the problem, I just need people to test it.
- Close Steam (Tools -> Close all PlayOnMac programs to be sure) - Open PlayOnMac / PlayOnLinux configure menu - Chose Steam - Go to Install Components (Or install package) - Choose "HackSteam"

You have to refresh PlayOnmac from install menu

I've tried installing the "HackSteam" package but it never seems to end. It's been sitting on "Please wait while we are fixing your Steam Installation" for about 10 minutes now. Any idea how long this should take?

Ok, I got a little farther (Torchlight 2 is installing from Steam right now). After I closed everything, including PlayOnMac, I noticed my MacBook's fan was running hard. I opened Activity Monitor and found 3 "yes" processes taking a ton of CPU. I killed them, restarted PlayOnMac, and tried Installing the HackSteam component again. This time install was immediate. Started up Steam, got "crash" message, but Steam proceeded to load and I was able to start the install of Torchlight 2.

So i have done the HackSteam in configuration and installed it then refreshed my playformac but it still will not let me download skyrim because of this steam error. I even went and replaced my steam folder. Is there something I'm doing wrong?
