Running Buntu 14.04. I'd love to get sims 3 (bought on Steam) running for my daughter. I have steam for windoze installed and runnning ok but this game just wont install and play. The debug file shows I need libgluezilla but im having a heck of time getting it to install. There seem to be several other dependencies needed, some built from source and several with limited or no instructions. I am moderately knowledgable with Ubuntu but new to POL. Am i missing some easier way or misreading something?

Last debug

Can you play any other games in PlayOnLinux?

I was able to run Sims 3 from Origin in PlayOnLinux using Wine 1.8
You may want to try a newer version of Wine like 1.8.3 (stable) or 1.9.14-staging

I installed the following packages:

  • POL_Install_corefonts
  • POL_Install_d3dx9
  • POL_Install_tahoma
  • POL_Install_vcrun2008
  • POL_Install_vcrun2010
  • POL_Install_vcrun2012

The message "Object not set to instance of Object" means that you are trying to use an object which has not been initialized. That is, you either set it to null, or you never set it to anything at all. The runtime throwing a NullReferenceException always means the same thing: you are trying to use a reference. The reference is not initialized (or it was initialized, but is no longer initialized). This points to one of the following:

Your code declared an object variable, but it did not initialize it (create an instance or 'instantiate' it)

Something which your code assumed would initialize an object, did not

Possibly, other code prematurely invalidated an object still in use.

More about....NullPointerException
