Download error 7049:408 - The Sims 3

Hello,

 

I've just purchased the sims 3, I downloaded and install the latest Origin from the website, but when I try to download the game (sims 3) it says "preparing download" and after a few minutes I get the error:

"An unspecified download error has ocurred.

Please cancel and restart your download.

Error: 7049:408"

 

I've got OS Linux OpenSUSE, running wine/playonlinux for Origin.

I understand them
I have a legal copy of the game

I do understand your point

however; I now fail to comprehend why you therefore do not just put up a single SIMS3 thread that just says

Due to piracy issues we can NOT support SIMS3 - please contact EA and ask them what to do

While you have any threads puirporting to have fixes for this you will continuously have people asking for the location of the fix that is refered to.

I have found a fix to the unreadable graphics from here :

install dirconf in ubuntu software centre - I can now read the graphics that tell me my disc is not in

But if we can not find the work round this doesn't help does it ?

You read them but did not understand them, possibly because they're not clear enough.

Sharing information about how to work around DRMs is prohibited by the DMCA in the US, EUCD in Europe, DADvSI in France (which is the port of the EUCD into national legislation), etc. If it is discussed in this forum we're potentially liable for it.
Did you notice I didn't mention anything about legal copies? That's because it doesn't matter. Even legitimate uses is a gray area.

So, in accordance to this forum terms, further messages about cracks or no-cd patches will continue to be removed. User banning depends on mood.

The Sims 3 can be installed using Origin so cd install can be avoided. Besides why would you want to have to swap disks every time you want to play a different game just rember to install all games in their own wine prefix so you have a specific vd for each game except for expasion, world and stuff packs which go on the same vd as the game they are for.
