Hello everyone!

I've bought Stories: The Path of Destinies on GOG.com discounted today (Black Friday event) and would like to play it on my Ubuntu 17.10 (Gnome) instead to boot on Windows 10, and eventually getting touch with some forum member knowing how to make an install script for POL. I've looked for a linux version, but the only article about it says the game uses Unreal Engine 4. I have no knowledge about programming languages except HTML and CSS, and I'm very new at playing Windows programs on Linux.

As you could have guessed, the installation failed :'(. But I'm getting too ahead. Let me fill you withh all the informations you need...


- Name of the distribution (and desktop): Ubuntu 17.10 64 bits with Gnome 3.26.1

-CPU: Intel® Core™ i7-4710HQ CPU @ 2.50GHz × 8 

-RAM: 8 GB

-Graphics Card: GeForce GTX 850M/PCIe/SSE2

-Drivers: NVIDIA binary driver - version 384.98 from nvidia-384

- Name of the software and its version: see debug log

- Errors from the software. And if possible, tell when and/or where it happens:

GOG.com has 3 files for the game. The main install file and two patches. I'm only trying to install the main install file in .exe for now.

When the installator is running, it displays at the end:

  • "Runtime Error (at 54:599): "
  • "Runtime Rror (at 194:800): Out Of Stack Range."
  • "Runtime Rror (at 194:806): Out Of Stack Range."
  • "Out of Global Vars range."

Then when I try to lunch the game with the installer, I get this message:

The global shader cache fil 'C:/GOG Games Stories - The Path of Destinies/Engine/GlobalShaderCache-GLSL_150.bin' is missing.

Your aplication is built to load COOKED content. No COOKED content was found; This usually means you did not cook content for this build. It also may indicate missing cooked data for a shader platform(e.g., OpenGL under Windows): Make sure your platform's packging stetting include tis Targeted RHI.

Alternatively build and run the UNCOOKED version instead.

Then when I execute the main file (named "Stories.exe"), I get the same error message.

Then I've installed this version of winbind. The same issue is there.

Does anyone have an idea of what's happening? I'm kinda lost, there. ^_^;

You should try using latest wine staging instead of wine 2.0 -> http://wiki.playonlinux.com/index.php/Managing_Wine_Versions
