Hello obi1-46
I would like to notice that Wine-1.1.23 is out. Could you can install The Sims 3 once more time with my script and say if the same applies to you. I tested the game on Wine-1.1.23 and i haven't got any crash when creating Sim. Moreover i changed patches used to prepare special Wine-Version. Thanks in advance.

Tried with Fedora 10 X86_64

You need to install X libraries for your carg for i386. For example for a NVIDIA:
yum install xorg-x11-drv-nvidia-libs.i386

I had some crash with 1.1.22 and 1.1.23 wine versions, but not with my 1.1.15 install base (home)

I will continue to test, I will give you some other informations

You should not change the version of Wine for The Sims 3. I prepare patched Wine version and preset it for The Sims 3 so you shouldn't get crashes. Right now you should use 1.1.23-TheSims3

be sure that in POL configuration Settings->Environment the value "Default Wine Version to run wine programs with PlayOnLinux" is set to System
Otherwise you'll be using Wine 1.1.15 and not the patched one. This is a bug in POL.

I have no 1.1.23-The Sims 3 wine version... only a 1.1.21-The SIms 3 and it get crashes while I play.

I asked for a 1.1.23 on configuration interaface from PlayOnLinux to try... but I always have crashes. Did you patch wine with the 2 patches about "memory leaks ?"

Have I to reinstall The Sims 3 or can I have a solution to get you wine version running on The Sims 3.

Just another point: If you change wine version (prefix) on playonlinux, you loose you sims family, home etc... it's a pitty.

That is probably because you installed The Sims 3 before 06-06-09. I update script every two weeks.

it get crashes while I play.

Your saves are in your home directory under "Electronic Arts" so you can make an backup of it.

Why did you add this? I did not post how to configure The Sims 3, it's not required.

We tried again, and again... crashes near 10 minutes of gaming. After crash, my desktop is very "white" and fonts are not antialiazed... I must restart X to recover.

There is a strange bug that appears: a color arrive on map after 5-6 minutes... green or red... and it makes like a big filter. It's very difficult to play... We must to save, quit and restart every 10 min...

For now, I cannot say that playing The Sims 3 is cool :-°

Maybe windows users have same troubles ?

I tested it a little bit longer and indeed it crashes after some time of playing (15 - 20 min) but i didn't encountered crash when creating Sim (with Wine-1.1.23). You should vote for bugs on AppDB so maybe they'll be fixed. An alternative is to set everything to medium or low and pray that The Sims 3 last longer

I have made a review on AppDB a few days ago. I will create a bug report.

As you said, I will try to "down setup". I'll tell you if it works

I have a problem, I installed sims perfectly and runs through part of choosing a neighborhood, but after the game closes and I put this in the console

* Assertion at ..\\..\\mono\\mono\\metadata\\icall.c:5454, condition `err' not met

and tested with several versions of wine, 1.1.23 1.1.21 1.1.15.
can you help?

So... I set params very low to try... and it's always the same issue: crash in about 10 minuts

It's a memory leak with wine... I tried to debug but (sorry) wine code is very hard to read...
