I've tried running DAO in both a raw Wine install (1.3.8) as well as through the PlayOnLinux installation script, yet I continue to have absolute garbage performance. However, over at the Wine appdb ( http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=18283 ) there are a number of people who talk about how the game runs flawlessly, at the same level of performance they get in Vista or Win7.

Does anyone have any experience with DAO, and what to do in order to get it to run smoothly? Right now, even at the lowest settings, I'm getting framerates that are unplayable.

Intel Core2 Duo E8400
GTX 260 OC (Nvidia Driver 260.19.21)
8GB RAM

Thanks!

Try adjusting wine registry for DAO? PhysX, DirectX9, MS VCrun2003 and no-cd crack are required to run game.

"DirectDrawRenderer"="gdi"
"Multisampling"="enabled"
"OffscreenRenderingMode"="fbo"
"PixelShaderMode"="enabled"
"RenderTargetLockMode"="auto"
"UseGLSL"="enabled"
"VertexShaderMode"="hardware"
"VideoMemorySize"="your number here"

Or maybe TRY THIS ONE FIRST!

DirectDrawRenderer=opengl
Multisampling=disabled
OffScreenRenderingMode=pbuffer
UseGLSL=disabled
VertexShaderMode=hardware
VideoMemorySize=1024 (Set this value to the RAM on your video card)
