Greetings,

I am 5 hours into trying to get Stardew Valley to work on PlayOnLinux (2 hours of that admittedly was fixing a DNS issue preventing me from accessing download.microsoft.com)

My error is

No Suitable graphics card found. Could not find a Direct 3D device that supports the XNA Framework HiDef profile Verify that a suitable graphics device is installed.  And so on.  Too bad I can't seem to upload a photo.

Here are my system specs

Per many online guides for this game, I have installed DotNet 20,35 and 40, XNA 40, Microsoft Core Fonts and xact.

If anyone has an idea of where I can start looking, I would greatly appreciate it.

XNA games can be a real pain in PlayOnLinux/Wine.  The last game I tried to use was Magicka and it used XNA

I installed these packages (Components, Libraries):

  • POL_Install_corefonts
  • POL_Install_directx fullsetup
  • POL_Install_xinput
  • POL_Install_xna 3.1
  • POL_Install_dotnet30
  • POL_Install_dotnet35

Before installing dotnet you need to run this command in Terminal:

sudo echo "0" > /proc/sys/kernel/yama/ptrace_scope

But it helps to be sure what packages StarDew needs before installing all of these.

Do you know if the proprietary Intel drivers are installed for that graphics chip?

Posts on WineHQ's also mention there is a problem with integrated graphics chips:  WineHQ

The proprietary drivers were installed through the system76 driver setup.

I ended up starting from scratch and installing everything through PlayOnLinux.  Basically installed everything you listed except I used DotNet40 (the only one that would install correctly for me) and xand.  I also used wine 1.9.7, as suggested by the WineHQ.  Everything works now, thanks for the tip.

Ah, I've had to do that before too.
Glad its working now!

Don't forget to mark this thread as "solved"

I'm getting the same issue!

I pretty much installed everything mentioned on this, including HackSteam.

I also couldn't find xand in my installed components.

I've been having this issue and I've tried playing this game on wineskins as well. Please tell me if there's something else I can do. I'm so lost and I'm a total noob at this.

I should also mention I have playonmac.

Are you able to play anything else in PlayOnMac?

I was able to start up Final Fantasy VIII. However, I just tried to open Magicite (just something quick and easy to install to test) and it would say "running" then nothing.

What version of PlayOnMac are you using?

Also What version of Wine did you try with Stardew Valley?

Do you know if you have 32-bit libraries installed in Mac?  Those are important for games.  Drivers are a big deal too.

I'm using 4.2.10

I also am not sure if I have 32-bit libraries installed, but I'm sure that might be part of the problem. Like I said, I'm really noob at this haha.

You may have to research or ask on the Mac forum how to install 32-bit libraries in Mac.  I really don't know how to do it.  They might allready be installed.

But a lot of games are only 32-bit compatible and 64-bit Linux doesn't come with them.  So I usually have to install them.  In Linux its called:  32ia-libs or Multi-arch
