Hello there,

Thanks for reading this and for your time.
Main problem - Can't open Steam without error messasge popping up, and cannot connect to the community.

I am working on a macOS Catalina version 10.15.7 and have recently downloaded Playonmac to play PC only games on Steam.

I followed the instructions in this youtube video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DYom6i2CDec&lc=Ugxtiv4N0FPFHv2CDlR4AaABAg.9OoZ0OIN65Q9Oy0Zc0puf-
At this point Steam opens, and I get a black screen with the headings for 'store' 'community' etc etc at the top.

The OP for the video mentions that the program can't connect to the Steam community and 'talk to steam' until one goes into configuring the program and entering this line in the 'arguments' section: " wine steam.exe -no-browser +open steam://open/minigameslist "

At several points during the process, the error message: "The program viulkandrivequery64.exe has encountered a serious problem and needs to close, we are sorry for the inconvenience" and states it could be caused by a problem on the wine.

This error message opens when I try and open steam, and BEFORE I entered the above line, and everytime I launch Steam.

Despite this I can still download the game for singleplayer (Star Wars Battlefront) which it is doing now.

Can anyone please help explain any of this?

Thanks for your time, patience, and reading to end.

I got the same error warning. Sometimes because of this Steam turns off itself automatically after this error pops on my screen so I need to run it again. Anyone knows how to fix this ? I do have latest Catalina ver.

I'm running PlayOnMac in a Big Sur 11.4. This error seams not related to Steam that will be able to connect at the second try (yes, Windows, right? Just try again). After that, you should turn the view to compact, it will not run the embed browser, so the window will be empty inside. In compact view you can run the games!

But the warning about vulkandriverquery64.exe persists. It seems to be related to Vulkan (https://vulkan.lunarg.com/sdk/home#windows). Not only under Wine this trouble occours. There is a guy on this thread that solved by puting a DLL manually inside Steam: https://steamcommunity.com/discussions/forum/1/2924479876989537109/. PlayOnMac does not have an option available to add Vulkan to the bottle so maybe this is a way...
