I just finished Mirror's Edge in PlayOnLinux and it ran almost flawlessly!
Now I'm testing Crysis 2 Extreme Edition and its running fairly well with some crashing.

I recently finished Costume Quest and played Brutal Legend and Psychonauts in Linux. Didn't finish the latter two because I got frustrated.

I'm also playing Torchlight 1 on my Acer Chromebook in PlayOnLinux.  It runs really well too.

What are you playing?

Now i am playing Diablo III and League of Legends. I was playing Starcraft 2 but it is not that fun anymore somehow game play kinda sucks, but i have been waiting for more native linux games and i still hope that steam will bring all games to linux :D . I would really love if Elder Scroll Online would come out for Linux platform but can't see that happen soon. But the future for Linux is promising in gaming and that is really good, but i hope more people will discover Linux :D .But i do jump in native linux game now and then like: Forced, Left 4 Dead 2, Trine 2, Wargames: Europe escalation and now i am waiting for Amnesia: A machine for pigs.

But i have been playing Elder scroll: Skyrim, Dishonored Heroes of might and magic and GTA on playonlinux.

Very cool, How well does Skyrim, Dishonored and GTA play in PlayOnLinux?

I did a guide on League of Legends, but havn't play it much since. My favorite online games are Drakensang & Path of Exile. Totally free and loads of fun!

I saw Forced on Steam too... I remember playing the beta on Moddb.com... Cool game.
I have Left4Dead 2, but havn't actually tried it yet.
Thanks for sharing

League of Legends is the only game I always play. Apart from that, right now Europa Universalis 4 is really the only other one. I just finished Electronic Super Joy (short indie platformer with amazing music) the other day and promptly bought the soundtrack :P

Though once Mint updates to 16 I'll be getting a new stick of RAM and an SSD and will start dual booting to play some AAA's I've not been able to get running in Wine.

How is Skyrim running? Last time I installed it on Linux it didn't run well, though it might not have like all the mods I had installed to keep my save file working. Though this was maybe 5 or 6 months ago.

Yeah, I've seen League of Legends get a LOT of attention. Its still beta correct?
I made a guide for installing it with PlayOnLInux but it seems every time they make an update, it breaks something in the store.

Havn't heard fo Europa Universalis or Electronic Super Joy.... which is strange because I follow a lot of games.... goes to show there are a lot of developers out there.

Dude, Skyrim is running GREAT! I'm actually shocked how well it runs with my GeForce 550 Ti. I've played it for about 6 hours and only one crash so far. I'm using Wine 1.7.1

I have a 550 Ti as well so I might as well try it again. I'm about 150 or so hours into my save. And no, League of Legends has been out of beta for about 3 years now. The store worked a couple updates back for the first time in months for me on the 3.10 patch, but

They just had their third World Final last night.

As for the other games, I either found them on the Steam for Linux store page or though Youtubers like Totalbiscuit or Jesse Cox. Greenlight helps too.

Nice, yeah try it again, should run fine.
Here is my Skyrim guide.

Somehow I think I knew it was out of beta, but yesterday I was doing some searching because of the posts here with the store crashing or black screen errors.  I saw some "beta" pages.  They must have been old.

I mostly play older games, with a few exceptions like the Witcher games and Starcraft 2, and Dawn of War 2. I managed to get DoW2 Retribution working since it does not use GFWL.

Otherwise I love the Might and Magic series, even the first games in the series are among my all time favorites. I also play Quest for Glory, and the Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale games. I've yet to try out the NWN games.

At the moment I am playing Might and Magic 9. Quite a terrible game compared to the others in the series, but I believe I suffer from OCD as I just have to play the games in order. Luckily, MM9 is the only in the series I consider bad, but I still find it enjoyable to a degree.

Cool, I don't play a lot of those, but am a big fan of RPG games.
I'm not a huge fan of turn-based fighting... kinda takes the intensity out of the fighting.

I just posted a Guide on Neverwinter Nights 2 in Linux

Oh I love the old MM1-5 games that are purely turn based. Although 6-8 are still more enjoyable as I also generally prefer real time. Thanks for your link, I will make use of it when I get around to tackling the NWN series. I do want to play them, I just never got around to it previously.

I also love the Gothic 1-3, so yes RPG games have always been my favorite genre.

Strategy games are also a big favorite of mine, like the Heroes of MM games. Funnily, I've never been that good at turn based strategy, despite loving to play it. Real time strategy is something I handle a lot better. Stronghold 2 and Stronghold Legends are games I am quite proficient with, as with the Dawn of War series.

My plan is to dive into NWN once I finish my current run through the MM series.

I've just discovered PlayOnLinux I'm starting with SWTOR trying to get that to work first, but has anyone had any success with either Scarlet Blade Or Requiem installing under PlayOnLinux

My linux box has MSI motherboard 870A-G54, a single Nvidia GTX 450 video card, 16gb DDR3 ram, 250 Gb SSD, 500 Gb Western Digital HDD, on a 20 inch Acer monitor, 650 Watt PS

A bit of information here on WineHQ for Scarlet Blade

Some info on WineHQ for Requiem: Momento Mori (Bloodymare)

Havn't tried either games in PlayOnLinux, but have had success with a lot of other MMO's:

  • Neverwinter
  • Star Trek Online
  • Wakfu
  • Drakensang
  • Age of Wushu
  • Royal Quest

Hi Booman:

Greeting from Argentina!!!

Im following your posts since I used your guide to install Neverwinter Online a few days ago. BTW works perfect except sometimes the game freezes my whole computer (Ubuntu 14.04). Going to stop "patch on demand" option and see if that fixes the problem cause dont want to reboot everytime it crashes (if you know the answer - I would love to hear it).

Anyway, my concern this time is Drakensang!!!!!

I want to install Drakensang Online on my Ubuntu 14.04 but cant find the game on playonlinux game list to install it (I mean from the list the program displays under Games).

BTW I dont know why, but now the list of games and applications on playonlinux doesnt show up anymore like it used to (I dont know why this is happening - If u know how to fix that Im all ears).

I saw u published something about it and that u made it work (the setup is a .dmg file) so I would love some help if possible.

Thanks in advance Lorena

Sounds like you are on Mac

If you haven't upgraded to PlayOnLinux 4.2.5 then do that now.
When you click "Install" you should get some categories at the top and a text search box.

I don't remember if Drakensang is available, but if you search online, there are some instructions on how to install Drakensang in PlayOnLinux.

I found that Drakensang is the quickest and easiest game to run in Linux and is the most rewarding.  No DRM's, no huge downloads (8 MB to be exact), beautiful graphics, fun gameplay and quick loading levels.

I do not play Neverwinter regularly, so its hard to know why its freezing.  I was always frustrated with the patches because they would be a whopping 1 Gigabyte and require about 30 minutes to download.  I just wanted to play for 30 minutes and now I have to wait?  Seriously?

Hello again Booman:

I was able to install Drakensang, the website was giving me a MAC executable to install and not the Windows .exe.- I think it was not able to detect my OS as Linux. Anyway is working ok now.

I wish I could fix the problem with Neverwinter freezing. Thank again for ur help.

Of course!

I had the same problem with the DMG file, so I had to search for the EXE and found it on Drakensangs website.
That game is great and runs perfectly!

Neverwinter is a whole other monster... I've always has some frame-stutter probably because of my internet, but never had a freezing problem.

Right now I'm testing Bioshock 2 and Lord Of The Rings:  Return Of The King.  Both are working nicely.
Bioshock has a memory leak issue, but it can be solved by turning down the texture quality... which sucks of course.
