If this step didnt work, then it is a problem with your system, not POL or wine, and you will need to downgrade your system to a more stable version of Ubuntu (12.04.3 LTS ONLY!), or try mint or another version of Ubuntu like Kubuntu (same rules apply. 12.04.3 LTS ONLY).

There is nothing else that can be done. If this didnt work, your OS is busted or buggy, and you are just SOL. If you downgrade to another OS and IT STILL does not work, then you are really SOL, and simply cannot play that game.

Ok ok ok. THIS IS NOT THE FULL DEBUG OUTPUT. Ill post the instructions here.....

And here are some screenshots of how to get to the debugging output from your virtual drives.

First, open PlayOnLinux and click Tools -> PlayOnLinux debugger

When the debug window opens up, select the virtual drive or script that gave you issues

Then, select all of the text in the right side of the window. This is the debugging output. After selecting all of the text, right-click, then click COPY.

There might be multiple log files. post the LONGEST one.

Now, you DID do exactly what I said right?

Again, if this didnt work:

Yes I did EXACTLY as your post and you have said on getting the debug. There is only 1 file and this is it. I'm sorry it's not long enough but its the only thing there...

But I will go ahead and downgrade.

It's okay I understand again how it might be if I'm not gettin EVERY possible thing I could to get things to work. I just wish there was more to show. I really like 13.xx distro

So I will first try 13.04 and give my results here for anyone who is looking for the same problem if it does not work then LTS it is! I just hear its slower than 13.xx

No. Dont try 13.04. You already said you had problems with it. If you are using Ubuntu, USE 12.04.3 LTS. Not 13.04. not 13.10.

I cannot emphasize this enough. You mentioned yesterday that you had the same issues with 13.04. So, it lets not waste time. Lets go with a stable version of Ubuntu, which is 12.04.3, as the BEST WAY to test.

I went to LTS. I am now one step further I can see the launcher but it still freezes. But it did install in 32bit so this is good also i got the debug from this launch. It looks like everything is fine?
Apparently running without -dx9single helps the screen freezes for a moment but then it work but i cant see the launcher?

Cam you post the install log, please? I need to see whats happening at install.

Delete the virtual drive

close playonlinux

open a terminal

run this command in the terminal

playonlinux &> ~/gw2.log

install the game like you did

Now, after the game is done INSTALLING, exit playonlinux.

Copy and paste the stuff in that file. That file is located at /home/tyler/gw2.log

This will tell me whats wrong with the install.

Dont do that. wine-1.6-rc5 is not the in the script.

The version that should be used is :

WORKING_WINE_VERSION="1.5.28-GuildWars2"

Dont start screwing with stuff when you are trying to post logs for us, please. Install it from the script, if it fails, post that output. When you start changing stuff like that, it changes what the debug shows us, and obvious the script is not using other versions of wine for a specific reason.

Just install the program, and post whats in the file. DONT run the game, JUST install it, and post the files contents here, please.

Okay I ran it one more time just to be sure. I am getting the same error but what is different is, the installer is not asking for how much memory my video card has which is 256mb but its not a option on install. So is this my problem now?

No first time I have seen this error

That is impossible. lol. The script has a minimum memory requirement of 512mb, and if you set it below that, it should have given you a warning in the install window right after choosing the mem size and clicking next.

You dont have a powerful enough graphics card to run this game on this system on Linux.

Just to show this, I have ran the installer for GW2 myself, and chose 256mb for my memory size:

http://postimg.org/image/ptmz9yycb

It will flat out tell you that you dont have enough if you choose less than 512. Thats just how the script is programmed.

Impossible. I just ran it, and it did it. Its build into the script. It cant be avoided if you are running the script, unless install is failing before it gets there. I can see:

[POL_Wine_Direct3D] [1;34mMessage:[0m Setting wine Direct3D /home/tyler/.PlayOnLinux//wineprefix/GuildWars2 VideoMemorySize 256

Quote

I dont know where it gets thatnumber from, because the numbers "256" appear NOWHERE in the script itself. Like, literally nowhere. And this command is from user input. It DOES ask you, and you has to be setting it wrong. lol. I mean, its also the same exact size of your video memory.

Thats why its crashing. I dont know how or why you arent seeing it, or maybe you are just clicking through everything and not reading it, but Its there, it asks, and you computer doesnt have enough memory to run this game.

Here is the part of the script that does this:

GAME_VMS="512"

Quote

This sets the MINIMUM video memory size. Its not automatic. Next, a window pops up asking you about your memory size.

POL_SetupWindow_VMS $GAME_VMS

Quote

This is the window that pops up and asks you about the size of your video memory. It simply shows a bunch of numbers for memory size, and asks you to pick, and click next.

When 256 is select, and you click NEXT, you get:

/home/tyler/.PlayOnLinux//wineprefix/GuildWars2 VideoMemorySize 256[POL_SetupWindow_VMS] [1;33mWarning:[0m Video card does not have enough memory Guild Wars 2

Quote

Again, I dont see any way possible to miss this window, unless you are not pay attention and just clicking beyond everything without reading it.
