Linux Mint 16 64-bit, 16gigs of ram, hd intel 3000 graphics. Before i reset my laptop, the game ran fine. Now whenever I load up under linux I get these HUGE black lines on the ground and tree's/building/etc... load up in a strip pattern. I have no clue what to do. I have changed settings/fresh install and such.

The debugger shows nothing is wrong.

Do you have this problem on all games or just one specific game?

Don't forget to install 32-bit libraries: ia32-libs

I have ia32-libs installed. The other game I have tried is diablo 3 but that just says something is wrong with my video driver which from what I read is common when things aren't set up "properly" for diablo. I really don't play anything but guild wars 2.

It worked say 2-weeks ago. But since then I have made my laptop a dual boot machine for windows because of some required windows only software.(I tried getting it to pop up in wine just wasn't working.) Before that it was fine. But honestly that shouldn't make a difference should it?

Were you previously using Mint 16 64-bit when Guild Wars 2 was working?

I wonder if you installed the proprietary drivers for the Intel HD 3000 but didn't this time.
On my Chromebook the Intel HD drivers are automatically installed, but I can't verify if the really ARE installed.
You may want to check "Additional Drivers" in Mint 16 to make sure Intel drivers are installed.

Proprietary drives have never shown up on my T420(this laptop in question). Whether Ubuntu(13.10,12.04) or Linux Mint 16. I was running Linux Mint 16 when GW2 was working. Which is why I am confused nothing really has changed. I have all the same software/drivers. Running under the same Wine prefix/version.

In that case, lets do a debug output and see what is going on.
Launch PlayOnLinux
Select Guild Wars 2
Click Debug

Then paste the output here or pastebin
It should give us some idea why its not working correctly.

I'm assuming that you are using a PlayOnLinux automated script to install the game correct?

Yes, but sadly nothing on the debug signals an error... I'll show it to you.

Yeah, I don't see anything major either...

Go to Configure in PlayOnLinux
In the Display Tab set these:
1. GLSL: disabled
2. Direct Draw Renderer: opengl
4. Memory: Match the amount of memory on your video
5. Offscreen Rendering Mode: fbo

Looks like you have been messing with these too.
I've heard GLSL can really mess things up when its on.

I have not tried Mint on an Intel HD video chip, so I don't know if their drivers show up in "Additional Drivers" but you might as well check. It should say "Proprietary"
That is where I go for my Nvidia drivers.

Yeah I've gone there doesn't exist. But I will go change up those settings. Also I've been trying to research how much memory my laptop has but I can't ever figure it out. My guess so far is between 512 and 1024.

Yeah, my Acer C710 Chromebook doesn't tell me how much. so I set it for 256.
I'm sure 512 or 1024 would work fine.

I'll do some research and find how the heck do we insure the right drivers are installed?

This post has some good tips on installing the HD 3000 drivers with a Hybrid CPU/GPU if you have an AMD processor.

Of course, do this at your own risk because if the video gets screwed up then you have to know how to reset it with the TTY Shell.  Its a total pain.

There are some good tips in the comments as well.

Well that would be a nope. Also I have a intet i5 processor. I even did a fresh install. GLSL has to be set to default for the game to even load.

Dang! I'm clueless at this point.
Have you ever done a manual installation before?

Yeah, I have. Should I give that a try?

Also would using the data file for it. Which I have downloaded on windows and use it to move around the file instead of downloading the whole thing over again.

Would that be a problem? I wouldn't think so since it's just the file holding the world/npc/etc info.

Absolutely. Now make sure you find out which libraries and Wine version it requires.
Looks like GW2 needs Wine 1.5.28-GuildWars2

Libraries:
I'm reading on WineHQs but can't find any specific libraries. I normally install corefonts, dxfullsetup & tahoma. Even the script doesn't mention any libraries.

There is also an argument to enter in the Configure General Tab: -dx9single
I don't know what it means, but the script has it.

If GW2 still won't run then it's probably a driver issue and it would be risky to remove the Intel driver and install again.

Good question.  I'm not totally sure.  backing up/restoring files in Steam works really easily, but I don't know about other games and clients.

You can try and see if it will recognize all the existing files if you do a restore.
I would hate to download it over and over again too.

You did a manual install correct?

This seems like a problem, but I've never seen it before in a PlayOnLinux debug
