Just a few points, more to be added if requested.

Basically, I want a 64bit Prefix to try and run Doom - please don't be negative here.

But as a troubleshooter, first I need a 64bit Prefix that works with ANYTHING well.

I tried a cnon steam version of Doom in a 32bit (complains its a 64 bit.exe) and in a 64bit errors/errors errors.

So first things first, I wanted to get something running and tried 1/ Firefox, and 2/ LibreOffice BOTH WINDOWS 64BIT!

and neither run.  Now this can't be likely.  So lets start with a simple 64 bit program that installs in 1.9.19 staging

and start from here.

Thanks, Mark

p.s. my sad instincts are that POL is getting proprietary and don't mind things being more difficult as to get people to purchase CrossOver.

p.s. I paid for Doom 2x, and woiuld be happy to donate to Crossover for a One time Donation but I will not stand for Monthly FEES.

OK so some troubleshooting

Running wine-1.9.19 DOOMx64.exe (Working directory : /home/ack/.PlayOnLinux/wineprefix/Doom/drive_c/Program Files (x86)/Doom)
err:module:import_dll Library gdiplus.dll (which is needed by L"C:)

fine, go to "Install Components" and find gdiplus, and seems to install - no change in error, Next step Google this and low and behold .... apparently gdiplus is only available for (or works in)  32bit prefixes.

And of course I tried running the game in a 32 bit prefix, but complains about 64 bit.exe file ... So I can't win

ok so now help at all giving up soon with this forum, sadly

Here is a basic question then perhaps this can be answered easily.

When trrying to install Firefox or any Established program with or without my own file, ti always creates a new prefix.  When I choose an exhisting prefix, it still makes a separate one.  In this case called "Mozilla Firefox".  When with due dillagence I try to install an .exe in the exhisting Prefix no problem but it does not install any dependencies - way too fast.

If it is not clear, let me tell yo? what I was hoping.

Install in an exhisting prefix (64bit) a few tried and true apps (ex.s Firefox and LibrOffice) from the "Install" function ot POL.  With the hopes that it might build into my exhisting prefix more STUFF, like dlls for example.  And please don't tell me it is better to have a different prefix for everything, as I am experimenting here ... trying to make a descent 64-bit Windows 7 Prefix.

Thanks for the help should it come,
