I'm sorry i'm not able to write a pol script actually but...

I MANAGED TO MAKE CIVILIZATION 4 WORK PERFECTLY on WINE!!!!!!

i did the following:

1)install civ 4 (my version was 1.0) from DVD, doing so i refused directx install jumping directly to the game installation using wine 1.1.9
2)Patched the game at version 1.61, downloading from civ's site and running the patch in game directory.
2)downloaded missing dx dlls like tombuntu's guide said (d4dx9_26, msxml3 and msxml3r and copied it in civ4 directory.

the game works fine, and unlike tombuntu's indications, it works WITHOUT NEEDING NOCD CRACK (it seems safedisk version is correctly implemented in wine 1.1.9). and without needing a separate profile. of course civ4 DVD must be original...

now somebody can write the pol script for you all
