I thought I should introduce myselfe before I go asking for obscure game scripts in your forum :-°

I´ve been using playonlinux about 18 month now and I´m very happy with the project, especially the script feature wich I think is a greate idea. It makes it so much easier to install games without having to know everything about wine. I´m also impressed by how active the update phase is, new versions with improvements show up ever so often. Greate work indeed!

I´ve never made a script myselfe, well, I never had to. But now I find myselfe wanting to use Voddler, a new video streaming service that has gone Beta here in sweden (it´s kind of like Spotify, but for movies). There is talk about making a linux client (the first inhouse versions are said to have been written on linux) however as of now only Win and OSX versions exist. Installing and using Voddler on wine is possible but far from easy if you´re not a "I compile source for breakfast"-kinda guy. I will however try, but I´m guessing I will come here for help when the going gets tough.

Anyway, thanks for a greate program and hope to see you soon again :)

Some say that if you play a Windows CD backwards, it gives you a Satanic message. Heck, that's nothing. If you play it forwards, it installs Windows!

Hello Murak and thanks for introducing yourself.

Good luck on your crusade :) don't forget about the manual pages which should come in handy at some point http://www.playonmac.com/en/page-2-Documentation.html

Do not hesitate to ask any questions about script writing or the weather in France (pretty dull actually, thank you for asking :p) we'll gladly help if we can,

cheers

If there is a problem, fill out complaint form and place it in an envelope addressed to the name of the hospital in which you were born....

Might as well say hello too. =)

I am also from Sweden, and I am very interested in computers and programming.
I am also very interested in Free software, that's why I am using Linux. :D
I am not very fluent in English, and hardly talk any French. (Je ne parle pas francais, that's kind of right.. ..isn't it?)

I love the idea of POL, making it easy for users to install programs which are difficult to install.
I don't like writing scripts in BASH, but I' guess I'll get used to that too. ^^
I hope POL will get support for installscripts written in Python soon! xD

Hej, kul att det finns svenskar här också. Då kan man ju alltid fråga om hjälp och veta att någon förstår frågan. ;)

Voddler got shut down because someone hacked it so you could save the movies on your harddrive and distribute them.
That only happened so fast because it was open source unfortunately.
So they are working on another client that will be closed source.

I don't really get it though... why hack it and ruin this wonderful idea? Free movies legally and Open Source? Can it even BE any better? But no, the god damn brats (I heard it was some snivelling kid with sh*t for brains who did it) needed to mess around with it just to say "hey, I'm cool, I can hack stuff!".

I want to punish them and their parents.

Making a script is really a difficult task...
And requires you to get some knowledge regarding scripting..
But if anybody is doing this without learning it from somewhere then that buddy must be an awesome guy...
