Hi everybody!

I am totally new here and kind of a Ubuntu Newbie.

I just finished installing PlayOnLinux under Ubuntu 19.10, using wine 5.3 internally in PlayOnLinux.

For my job I need to work with Excel and Word a lot. Some Photoshop as well, but that is a different topic.

After installin Microsoft Office 2013, everything runs smoothly with the libraries:

  • mscoree (Native, Builtin)
  • msxml6 (Native)
  • riched20 (Native, Builtin)
  • gdiplus (Builtin)

Now to the problem: So far I got to test Excel and everything works as expected beside one thing. When I try to insert a picture, all Excel shows me is a small empty square with the text "This image cannot currently be displayed". image: https://ibb.co/pj0zyvz

I read in the internet, that I need to use the * gdiplus library as (Native, Builtin) to at least display PNG files in Excel, but when I set it as such, Excel wont open anymore and only output an error about not having enough space and that I should close other apps.

My SWAP partition is 4GB and my RAM as well, so not sure if space really is the problem.

Anyone any ideas? Thank you for your help in advance!!

Hi, sorry to bother!

Anybody has any idea if there might be a missing plugin/package or anything I could install?

Problem is, my customers are waiting for me to process the excel files and I would hate to having to change back to Windows for a trivial thin as Microsoft Office not being able to display a picture. So far I love Ubuntu and the workflow it enables me to have, but I just cannot not avoid using Microsoft Office as my customers always had problems an complaints when I sent them open office or libre office files.

Any hint is welcome! No matter if it is regarding the memory problem with *gdiplus or any other work around,

Thank you  you very much in advance and greetings from Taiwan,

Daniel

The only script we have for Excel 2013 is this is one: Microsoft Office 2013, perhaps try it. Using a very new Wine version on very Old windows softwares sometimes make troubles.

I suggest you to read our Wiki page 'Manual Installations', then Appdb.winehq.org , and finally perhaps to look at Crossover.

Hmm, those are the options that I'm used to seeing in 2010. Just upgraded to 2013 last month. I feel like there must be some setting that I'm blindly overlooking that will fix it

Showbox jiofi.local.html tplinklogin
