Hi guys, first of all I would like to say, that I am really thankful for this software !
I have read through some posts concerning call of duty black ops and the error messages ( Incomplete installation, issues with wine on x64 and ubuntu version 11.04 etc.)
So currently I am wondering if there is a solution to the problem of multiple steam games not starting anymore on ubuntu 11.04 x64 machines.

Thank you all a lot

Due to Unity and other stupid ideas of Ubuntu dev team, wine is very unstable with ubuntu 11.04. There is no miracle solution, but you can try this :
- Disable Unity (switch to Classic Gnome)
- Add wine and PoL to AppArmor (or whatever it's called now) white list (ubuntu-doc is your friend)

This should solve main issues. If you want to get rid of all this mess and have a cleaner Ubuntu-like OS, use Linux Mint 11. This distro is based on Ubuntu but without all unnecessary modifications (like Unity, Ubuntu-One, ect...), it stay the most possible standard as it can.

Do you know if for example black ops would run on linux mint ? This would be strange as linux mint is ubuntu.
Or am I getting something wrong

Okay, to make sure I installed ubuntu 10,04 with kde and the error remains. With not being able to complete the installation. Could you help me out here ? I tested both ways : using pol to install ( seperate steam installation), and installing it as on windows in steam. Both methods do not work.

This error do not occur with every one, and nobody know how to solve it. People already reported working install a day, then this error when retrying to install the next day...this is completely random.
